Pickett Dental Laboratory has been offering
Pro-flex full and partial flexible dentures since Spring of 1998. We have been extremely pleased with all aspects of this product - its ease of workmanship, quality, aesthetics, and most importantly, the final results. We enthusiastically offer Pro-flex flexible dentures to our dentists as an option for their patients, and have been encouraged by the feedback thus far. Some indications to recommend Pro-flex may include:

  • Anatomical considerations. The flexible nature enables the material to effectively engage tooth and tissue undercuts. (Thus, undercuts now become an advantage.) Also, Pro-flex is hypo- allergenic and is recommended for patients with known acrylic or metal sensitivities.

  • Patient comfort.   Pro-flex dentures and partials distribute masticatory load over a large area.

  • Aesthetics.  Pro-flex material is semi- translucent, allowing the prosthetic to better blend with the color of the natural gum tissue. With Pro-flex flexible partials, there are no metal clasps. (FYI, broken cast metal partial clasps can be replaced with Pro-flex claps, and new metal partials can be fitted with Pro-flex clasps.)

  • Adjustability.   Pro-flex full and partial flexible dentures are easily adjusted by the dentist. The material cuts easily with a sharp carbide bur, and it is not "gummy" as with other flexible denture products.

Pro-flex full dentures are constructed with a modified mouth guard material made by the same people who make the professional mouth guard material, Proform. This material is tough, durable and dense, manufactured with thousands of pounds of pressure and vacuformed to fit your model perfectly. Next comes a laminated vinyl for strength and adherence. The final layer is a flexible resin composite that is firm enough to hold teeth under all occlusal loads, but flexible enough to allow delivery of the dental appliance without adjusting any undercuts. Simply warm the denture with running water to bring it up to body temperature before inserting it. In fact, with a properly border molded impression, it is recommended that you do not adjust it.  Pro-flex is easy to adjust if needed with normal acrylic burs, but because it molds itself to the tissues at body temperature, it should not be necessary. You will now have a denture that will change itself to conform to the mouth as the bones distort from the muscles while chewing.

Pro-flex partial and full dentures CAN BE REPAIRED, and the full dentures can be RELINED here at the laboratory with    Pro-flex Soft Line material (overnight cure is required).

Pro-flex flexible dentures are set up with the same quality teeth used in acrylic dentures and cast partials.  Please see the Acrylic Denture page for a brief description of the teeth used.
